Autism spectrum too broad, says leading researcher Uta Frith
Professor Dame Uta Frith, an 85-year-old autism research pioneer, suggests many diagnosed people may not actually be autistic. She is worried that those needing more support are overlooked and underrepresented in research. Frith believes a rise in diagnoses is due to a "late-diagnosed group," mostly women, who might have other conditions like anxiety or depression.
