Independent Australian MP Helen Haines is in hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a 4x4 outside her electorate office in Wangaratta, Victoria. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it appeared to be a deliberate act. A 43-year-old local man was detained by a passer-by and police found a knife in the vehicle. Counter-terrorism officers are helping to investigate, but no motive is yet known.
