Atlantic Ocean currents controlled Earth's energy balance during last ice age

Scientists identified sudden changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) during the last glacial period. The ocean experienced heat gain during periods of AMOC weakness and heat dissipation during periods of AMOC strength. Alterations in the AMOC played a role in Earth's energy balance due to modifications in radiative responses.
