Armistice Day Marks 106th Anniversary of WWI Ceasefire with Two-Minute Silence
On 11 November, the UK marks the anniversary of the 1918 ceasefire that ended fighting in the First World War at 11am. At this time, people across Britain observe two minutes of silence to honour military personnel who lost their lives in service since 1914. The Royal British Legion organises wreath-laying at memorials nationwide, while the main national remembrance event takes place at London’s Cenotaph on the second Sunday each November.
