Andy Burnham hints income tax threshold may rise, offering people breathing space

Andy Burnham, set to become Prime Minister, hinted the £12,570 income tax personal allowance could increase. He said the current freezing of thresholds, which has raised billions in a “stealth tax”, was the main issue he heard from voters. Mr Burnham also signalled he might raise taxes on higher earners to ease the cost of living.
