Andy Burnham drops plan for Waspi payouts

Women affected by state pension age changes are less likely to receive money after a shift in position from a Labour leadership contender. On Thursday, Andy Burnham said he no longer backed financial payments, though he remained willing to consider other forms of help following criticism over potential costs. Earlier, he had supported compensation for up to 3.6 million women born in the 1950s.
