Amazon and gig workers increasingly rely on food stamps

A new US government report shows a sharp rise in Amazon and gig economy workers needing food stamps and Medicaid. Between February 2020 and September 2025, the number of Amazon employees using these benefits nearly tripled. Gig economy drivers for companies like Uber and DoorDash now rank highest for food stamp use compared to other employers.
