Alcaraz wins first US Open set against Shelton

Carlos Alcaraz won the first set of his US Open quarter-final match against American Ben Shelton, taking it 7-6 (5) after 61 minutes. Shelton, the eighth seed, then broke Alcaraz's serve three times in the second set, something he had never done in their previous eight sets. The defending champion is playing Shelton on Tuesday in front of a crowd of 24,000 New Yorkers.
