AI has not caused mass job losses, but work is changing

Despite earlier predictions of widespread job destruction, economists say AI has not yet led to mass unemployment, similar to past tech revolutions. Instead, AI is altering the character of employment, as companies increasingly anticipate applicants will possess AI proficiencies. The shift could also mean more jobs become temporary or freelance as companies figure out what skills they need.
