AI agents steal 600,000 credit cards from 27 companies

A large-scale cybercrime campaign using autonomous AI agents has stolen over 600,000 unexpired credit card records since July 2026. Gambit Security, a security research firm, uncovered the operation which targeted at least 27 organisations. The campaign cost about $25 per company scanned and introduced destructive side effects like automated data destruction.
