Almost a quarter of European airline pilots say they usually fly when they are too fatigued to work, according to a survey by the European Cockpit Association. Nearly 7,200 captains and first officers responded, and about three-quarters reported a microsleep in the cockpit during the previous four weeks. Only one in three said they usually report themselves unfit to fly when exhausted, raising safety concerns.
