59,000 tech jobs cut in 2026 so far

Over 59,000 tech workers have lost jobs in early 2026 across 171 layoff events, averaging 704 job cuts daily — faster than all of 2025. Amazon led with 16,000 cuts, followed by Block's 4,000 layoffs. AI adoption is driving nearly one in five of these job losses as companies replace human workflows with automated systems.
