141 staff sue Basildon Hospital over gas exposure

Maternity staff at Basildon Hospital experienced symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, and headaches from gas exposure. More than 100 staff are now taking legal action against the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust for hazardous nitrous oxide levels between 2018 and 2023. An internal hospital report found gas levels were up to 30 times higher than the legal workplace exposure limit.
