£110m fast-tracked to create hundreds more prison cells

Existing prison spaces like offices and laundries will be converted into new cells to ease overcrowding. Justice Secretary Alex Norris said on Tuesday that £110m is fast-tracked from existing budgets. The funds will generate hundreds of new spaces because approximately 4,500 inmates are anticipated to be granted early release starting in October.
