ITV promises shareholders £950m after selling its media business to Sky for £1.6bn
The television network kicked off the promised returns on Friday by buying back £100m in shares before the deal completes. Britain's competition watchdog is currently investigating the agreement, which transfers control of free-to-air channels and the ITVX streaming app to Sky. ITV will hold onto its separate production division, the team behind popular hit programmes such as Love Island and The Chase.
