China opens typhoon training centres as extreme weather grows
People in China are paying to experience simulated typhoons and flash floods to prepare for real-world extreme weather. A day-long session at the Lvxing Disaster Simulation Training Centre in Hangzhou is available for 1,599 yuan (about £175). Since opening in May 2025, over 160,000 people have attended, with plans for five more centres across China.
