MoD data leak putting Afghan lives at risk was “foreseeable” failure
A parliamentary inquiry found the Ministry of Defence lacked the expertise to run the Afghan relocation scheme, using secrecy as a shield. The leak exposed details of over 18,500 applicants to the Arap scheme when an MoD staff member shared a spreadsheet. Around 884 rejected Afghan special forces members have since had their applications overturned after a review.
