Suffolk heath fire forces evacuations, major incident declared
1. A substantial wildfire began on Dunwich Heath on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a major incident being declared and evacuations taking place. Around 90 firefighters were tackling the wind-driven blaze at its peak, which spread rapidly towards St James's Church. About 48 people, including families, were evacuated to Westleton Village Hall, with up to 200 caravans prepared for evacuation.
