New global trial combines GLP-1 drugs and lifestyle to cut cognitive decline

The Alzheimer's Association revealed a new global trial, PROTECT-Cog, to investigate if GLP-1 drugs and lifestyle changes can lower cognitive decline risk in older adults. PROTECT-Cog builds on the US POINTER study, which showed lifestyle programmes gave up to two years of cognitive advantage. Researchers will monitor participants over three years to determine if the integrated strategy is more successful at postponing mild cognitive impairment.
