Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez warned of "difficult hours" ahead as firefighters battle wildfires across Spain and France. Spain has seen 152,678 hectares of forest burn this year, compared to 24,133 in the same period of 2025. Sánchez also called for a "major public pact on the climate emergency" to address the ongoing crisis.
