China starts making its own chip machines, challenging Dutch giant
Mass production of DUV lithography machines has commenced at a Chinese state-backed company, marking a significant stride towards self-reliance for China's semiconductor industry. Customers are due to receive DUV lithography machines, an older type still utilised for contemporary computer chips, within the current year. ASML's share price dropped 12% from July 27, as the Dutch company currently makes most DUV machines.
