EU reports say Google could get €1bn fine under digital rules
German newspaper Handelsblatt says the European Commission plans to announce the penalty on Thursday over two Digital Markets Act cases. The reported investigations focus on whether Google favours its own search services and blocks app developers from promoting downloads outside the Google Play Store. Fines under the law can reach 10% of a company’s global turnover, and Alphabet made $402.8 billion in 2025.
