Philippine paddlers revive ancient outrigger canoes for world championships
The Philippine Outrigger Canoe Club is bringing back the country's sea heritage, inspired by the traditional bangka and bugsay. The club, founded in 2021, promotes competitive outrigger canoeing and will represent the Philippines at the IVF World Sprint Championships in Singapore in 2026. The country's official participation will involve 19 paddlers competing for the first time.
