UK calls Russian live-fire drill near Plymouth irresponsible and provocative
Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said the Russian naval exercise took place about 40 nautical miles south of Plymouth in international waters and called it “performative and irresponsible”. The Royal Navy monitored the live-fire drill throughout after the Russian vessel gave advance notice and asked HMS Tyne to move clear. Streeting said the exercise reflects the continuing threat Russia poses to Britain and its allies.
