Edinburgh's new police unit made 49 arrests and 114 charges in July

A new policing unit dedicated to Edinburgh city centre made 49 arrests and charged people with 114 offences in July. The City Centre Policing Unit, partly funded by Edinburgh's new tourist tax, also seized alcohol 47 times and issued 20 warnings. Inspector Stephen Quinn, the unit's leader, said their first month was "immensely challenging but extremely rewarding".
