North Pole marathon runners race on drifting sea ice
Twenty-three runners from seven countries participated in a marathon held on Sunday at the geographic North Pole. They arrived from Norway on a French polar vessel and ran laps of a 1,055-metre loop. The course vanished as the ice shifted, according to organisers, only a few hours after the races concluded.
