British army cancels Kenya training over prosecution powers row
A planned training exercise in Kenya, scheduled for September, has been cancelled by the British army because the Kenyan government would not ratify a defence agreement. Kenyan lawmakers want more power to prosecute British soldiers for any crimes committed in the country. As a result of this decision, the 1st Battalion, Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, will now conduct their training elsewhere, probably on Salisbury Plain.
