Rail discount scheme widened to cover 18-year-olds
The government has extended its half price rail discount scheme to cover 18-year-olds for the first time. The 16-17 Saver railcard previously applied only to those aged 16 and 17, cutting standard adult fares by 50% across Great Britain's network. Ministers said the change is intended to reduce travel costs for young people starting work, college or apprenticeships after school.
