How rare is this month's UK solar eclipse?
Ninety percent of the Sun will vanish over London on 12 August, the most coverage Britain has seen since 1999's total eclipse, the Royal Observatory Greenwich said. Cornwall will see about 95 percent coverage and southwest Ireland nearly 98 percent, while totality crosses only Greenland, western Iceland and northern Spain. The next total eclipse visible from Britain will not happen until 2090, the observatory added.
