Counter Terrorism Police arrested Vahid Aberi, 39, in the Birmingham area on Wednesday and searched addresses in Liverpool and Birmingham. The Crown Prosecution Service charged him with allegedly assisting a foreign intelligence service under the National Security Act, and police said the investigation relates to Iran. Aberi was remanded in custody and is due at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, while police said they have found no direct threat to the public.
