NatWest expects to earn £17.9bn this year after profits reach £4.3bn
The banking group is rewarding its investors with a £955m payout after increasing its summer dividend to 12p a share. Benefiting from higher interest rates, the lender took in £8.7bn over the first half of 2026, which easily beat analyst predictions. These massive earnings have prompted trade unions and politicians to urge Prime Minister Andy Burnham to tax the banking sector.
