More than 750,000 young adults might be missing out on an average payout of £2,200 from Child Trust Funds. These long-term, tax-free savings accounts were set up by the government with an initial £250 deposit for children born between September 1, 2002, and January 2, 2011. Young people can take control of their fund at 16 and withdraw money when they turn 18.
