China forces Meta to unwind its $2 billion Manus acquisition
Chinese regulators demanded Meta reverse its $2 billion purchase of AI startup Manus, which will now operate independently. Beijing investigated the deal for violating foreign investment rules, issuing its decision in April to withdraw the transaction. Manus told users on Tuesday they will need to back up data generated from December 29, 2025, due to the separation.
