Paramount and Warner Bros get UK approval for their £85bn merger
The Competition and Markets Authority, Britain's business watchdog, ruled on Wednesday that combining the two Hollywood giants won't harm consumer choice. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy originally requested the investigation in June to make sure the tie-up wouldn't limit what audiences can watch. Although the move creates the country's largest film distributor, officials decided the new company still faces plenty of rivalry from services like Netflix.
