UK national debt hits £3 trillion for the first time
Britain's national debt has reportedly passed £3 trillion, according to estimates from the TaxPayers' Alliance. The £3 trillion figure is equivalent to over £100,000 for every UK household and represents around 95% of the country's GDP. Increased government borrowing has pushed the milestone higher sooner than the Office for Budget Responsibility's September forecast.
