Future graduates in England face higher debt and taxes under new loan plan
Analysis suggests England's latest student loan system, Plan 5, means graduates will repay more and struggle to save. According to an Intergenerational Foundation report, individuals on average incomes will pay back £56,240 if they are on Plan 5, which is twice the £25,700 repayment amount for Plan 1. The government's contribution to university education costs has also dropped from 46% to just 8%.
