Specialist therapy helps intensive care patients suffering from PTSD
Around one in four UK intensive care survivors experience flashbacks, nightmares, or anxiety long after physical recovery. A small study found Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy helped these patients improve their symptoms. Researchers are now planning a larger national trial to potentially add EMDR to NHS critical care recovery.
